My artwork is symbolic of healing that has and is taking place within me due to the trauma related to a car accident (and life) that happened two and a half years ago. The piece is Kintsugi, Japanese Art-repairing a piece of broken pottery to be more beautiful than it was before it was broken; that is the very short version of my story of healing. The healing has been a long process of sitting before the Lord, surrendering, letting go of what was, breaking what appeared to be a perfectly fine-looking bowl, accepting the brokenness, trusting, and allowing healing to take place like never before.
I am a truly blessed child of God. The Lord has redeemed so much in my life thus far; I was a high school dropout, mom by 16yrs old, in and out of abusive relationships, bartender, sexually abused, addicted to drugs and alcohol, and much more.
Now God has/is working everything together for the good; I am a grateful recovering alcoholic/addict of 22 yrs, I completed my Master's degree in Professional Counseling and a Licensed Therapist, I'm a mom of 2 and grandmother of 3.
Recently added to the list, I am also a survivor/thriver of a car accident that caused a traumatic brain injury as well as bodily injuries, flourishing now, once again, to share the love of Christ with others.
God has not allowed me to be broken greater than repair. He has restored, repaired, redeemed my life in ways far more than anything I could ever hope or dream; I am beautifully broken and exceeding blessed beyond repair.
